SPOLIA II

Inheritance of the former GDR, the housing estate of « contractual workers » is one of the largest abandoned sites in the city of Berlin. Composed of nine prefabricated concrete buildings (Plattenbau), built in the 1980s, it is now slated for demolition. In a context where materials are becoming scarce and it is necessary to save money, the project proposes solutions to rehabilitate the plot by extending the lifespan of existing buildings and reusing materials.
