SPRATTS FACTORY

Originally built in 1890, The Old Spratts Factory has been refurbished. The building used to contain the grain & flour warehouse and two bakeries, but it was converted poorly, compromising functionality and original features. To modernize the space, the layout has been changed to provide an extra bedroom, bathroom, shower and a dedicated study area, with additional storage added. The entire space has also received a thermal, fire & acoustic upgrade to meet current Building Regulations, with original features exposed, refurbished and complemented with natural and artificial lighting. The scheme was perfected by sourcing original, reclaimed wooden floor boards, structural timber beams, ceiling planks, worktops, light fittings, light switches, furniture and even spiral radiators. Overall, the refurbishment has managed to preserve the building’s historical character while providing modern amenities and functionality.
